Nasi Lemak : The Heart of Singapore

‘Nasi lemak’, a well known dish among Singaporeans which originates from Malaysia. ‘Nasi lemak’ is widely eaten in Malaysia and Singapore. The Malay version of ‘Nasi Lemak’ is served with anchovies, nuts, fried fish or fried chicken, egg and cucumber slices. What makes ‘Nasi Lemak’ special is its fragrant rice which is enhanced by Pandan leaves and coconut milk and then accompanied by ‘Sambal’ which is a spicy yet sweet chili paste. ‘Nasi Lemak’ is commonly found in hawker centers, coffee shops and mall. However, I feel that traditional ‘Nasi Lemak’ should be preserved because every time i have a meal of it, it always brings me back to when i was younger spending time with my grandmother every weekend indulging on a packet of pure heavenly goodness.
